Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2014, and with vision of curator Chogrin and Bottleneck Gallery, an art show was created. “Turtles in Time” is an official art show celebrating the quirky characters from the comics, cartoons and toylines. Over 75 artists from around the world were invited to celebrate 30 years of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
My inspiration came from the original 80s cartoon and its accompanying toyline. This is the “Party Wagon,” but I wanted it to feel more like a “battle wagon,” hence the grungy, beat up van dressed with graffiti slogans and enhancements like an anti-aircraft machine gun, a custom ejection side chair made from a scrapped airliner seat, and a stink bomb.
