Strong to the Finish is an art show celebrating 85 years of Popeye the Sailor Man. Curated by Ecuadoran artist and Popeye fan, Chogrin, in collaboration with King Features Syndicate, this art show features more than 100 artists from around the world paying unique tribute to the legendary sailor, created by E.C. Segar in 1929.

My piece, I Chokes Down Me Spinach, is an homage to the vintage, black and white Fleischer Studios era of Popeye. I wanted to capture the violent fights with Popeye and Bluto filled with sight gags. This piece encompasses the moment where Bluto is about to finish off Popeye, and Popeye pops open a can of spinach. You know what happens next.
